Online resources for mature students

As I find different things helpful, I’ll share them here with you!

BudgetBytes. Everybody’s got to eat. If you like cooking, eating, and saving money, this site is great.

You Need a Budget. I’ve been using this software for almost 3 years now, and it’s made a huge difference in my life. I wouldn’t be able to afford going to school without this fantastic resource. Unfortunately they have moved to a subscription-based payment structure, but I actually think it’s still worth the money (I haven’t upgraded to the newest version of YNAB yet, so I don’t have to pay the subscription).

Pep talks and motivation

“How do I know if I’m good enough to go into math?” by Cathy O’Neil at mathbabe. Can’t speak highly enough about this person or her blog. Any time I’m feeling down on myself, I return to this post (and then spend like an hour reading through the whole blog).

Khan Academy. I’ve learned so much from Khan Academy! Their computer science videos are great. I find the math videos are good as refreshers or supplements to actual courses I’m taking — there’s not enough depth or context at KA sometimes.
